Aromatherapy Course

Aromatherapy is the modern name given to the use of pure essential oils to promote health and counteract disease.

This course teaches detailed information on 42 essential oils including synergistic blending for individual conditions. The massage movements are specially designed to improve circulation and lymph flow. The aromatherapy massage is applied to the full body, face and scalp. Techniques include lymph drainage, neuromuscular massage and acupressure points.

  • History of Aromatherapy
  • Application of Essential Oils (bath, burner, compress, massage, steam inhalation)
  • Uses of Essential Oils
  • Aromatherapy definitions / terminology
  • Carrier Oils suitable for Aromatherapy
  • Detailed information on 42 oils (including botanical name, plant family, country of origin, extraction method and therapeutic properties)
  • Chemistry of Essential Oils
  • Essential Oils which should not be used in Aromatherapy
  • Essential Oils to use with caution
  • Essential Oils to avoid during pregnancy
  • Preparation for massage
  • Order of massage strokes for: a) body; b) neck & shoulders; c) face; d) scalp
  • Client handling / Client Care
  • Taking of case histories
  • Contra-indications to Aromatherapy massage
  • Relaxation – learning how to relax to a deep level to restore the natural flow of energy

Holistic College Dublin results in Aromatherapy exams

The diploma issued by ITEC  lists the student’s overall grade in terms of a pass, credit or distinction. An average of the theory and practical marks is combined to obtain the final grade.

A pass grade is between 60% – 74%, A credit is between 75% – 89% and a distinction is between 90% – 100%.
