Continuing to develop understanding and professional skills is good practice in any industry.
Holistic and complementary therapists have been seeking for decade’s greater recognition for the invaluable skills they provide. In recent years great strides have been made, with many industry providers cooperating to voluntarily self regulate training and professional standards. Setting out clear guide lines for safe ethical practice that puts the clients in safe hands. Consensus has been reached by many associations regarding the importance of continuing professional development resulting in the introduction of a C.P.D. Points Scheme. Points are awarded for attending lectures, seminars, doing research, further reading or by attending workshops and further training courses.
Our C.P.D schedule offers short courses focused on development of specific techniques and skills that will broaden a therapists scope of practice.
Working therapists often have difficulty meeting the demands of a busy clinic and finding time to continue their training. The short duration and light commitment allows therapists to progress through separate modules at a pace that suits them. Modules are offered through out the year allowing people to choose as intensive or light commitment as they wish.
For recent graduates from foundation massage courses C.P.D’s offer a chance to progress your understanding of body work and how to approach particular conditions like neck and shoulder tension, low back pain and T.M.J tension.
C.P.D’s are focused on developing primarily your practical skills, with 75 % of class time devoted to practical training and 25 % given to theory, to increase your under pinning knowledge. On successful completion of a C.P.D training module you will receive a certificate of competence. This award is based on Case Study work and practical assessment, where students will work on an Instructor to accurately evaluate their practical skills. Class sizes are limited to 16 students to allow an 8 -1 student to instructor ratio for practical work. This enables each student to receive a high level of one to one interaction with their instructor.
The award is issued by the Holistic College Dublin and is recognised by ITEC’s graduates association Embody AChT. This means therapists can claim their C.P.D points and the qualification is covered by their insurer. On receipt of your Certificate of Competence you can start offering a new treatment to your clients.
